Mike is a registered professional Engineer and founding Director of Re-Solve Consulting, a consulting engineering company specializing in the water sector, based in South Africa. Mike has gained experience in both the the public and private water sector, and been responsible for water and sanitation service delivery at the municipal level, as well as the implementation of varied water supply and efficiency intervention projects as an engineering consultant. Mike has conceptualized, planned and implemented large-scale municipal water intervention projects in both Johannesburg and Mogale City. In addition Mike was central to the development of policy at Johannesburg Water relating to Levels of Service and the implementation of prepayment water metering. As Divisional Manager, Mike was responsible for the creation, management and operation of the Low Income Services Development Division in the Operations Department of Johannesburg Water. During the period 2004 – 2014, Mike also served as the South African Programme Manager for the Watergy Programme of the Alliance to Save Energy, a Non-Profit organization based in the US. Activitiesunder this programme were mainly focused on water and included coordinating efficiency initiatives within municipalities, conceptualizing and implementing intervention projects, procuring funding for municipal infrastructure, providing technical assistance to municipalities, collaborating with Development Agencies, funding agents and partner organizations, as well as facilitating contractual arrangement for specialized projects. Mike has also served on Steering Committees for various research and standards setting bodies. Mike’s engineering specialization, coupled with over twenty years of experience in the water sector as a director, operator, manager, planner, programme and project manager, coordinator as well as new business development manager provides him with an in-depth understanding of the challenges linked to delivery of potable water at all levels, including provision to rural impoverished communities.
